Do I still need to do this if I am using the Yoast SEO plugin? I tried to load Google XML SItemap the other day and it said that there was a conflict because “the Yoast plugin also has a sitemap”. So I didn’t go any further as I didn’t want to mess Yoast up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Mel … If you had already submitted your sitemap to Google Search COnsole then no need. But if you haven’t submitted then you should do that otherwise your website won’t be ranked in Google. Yoast is just a plugin, it helps you to create a sitemap. But the submission part has to be done in Google search console for crawling and indexing purpose. If you have any queries feel free to ask. All the best.

Such a great post. I’m happy that for now, wordpress.com is doing this for me, as I don’t have my own domain. But this is indeed very important and a must.
