In most of the movies, we have seen Robots portraying as human-like characters, yes that is Artificial Intelligence. Humans have invented computers to increase the speed of the work, reduction of time and performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Artificial Intelligence is taking a step forward in creating machines and computers as intelligent as human beings.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

John McCarthy is known as the Father of Artificial Intelligence. According to him, AI is the “The Science and Engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computers. This is the Definition which is frequently quoted about Artificial Intelligence.
AI is actually making of Computer Systems or machines which can think in a similar manner how intelligent humans think. At present, AI is known as a narrow AI or a weak AI. It has reached a stage where it can perform face detection, voice recognition, driving cars. But the vision of researchers is creating a general AI or strong AI where the Computer systems and machines will outperform the humans in intelligence and also in every cognitive task.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence

  1. Gaming: AI plays a very vital role in strategic games like chess, poker where it can think more number of possible steps that the human mind can think.
  2. Voice recognition: Voice recognition application is very useful. The system processes your voice and can interact with you in a human language.
  3. Robots: Robots are great inventions. Robots can perform the tasks which humans do and that too in an efficient manner. They have sensors to distinguish physical information from this present reality, for example, light, warm, temperature, development, sound, knock, and weight. The best part is they can even learn from their mistakes and next time robots can avoid doing the same mistake for a specific task.
  4. There are some applications in AI where the Computer system helps the user in guiding, advising, giving information and imparting reasoning on a particular topic. This really helps the user in getting a more detailed understanding of the subject.

How can AI be dangerous?

Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates, and numerous other enormous names in science and innovation have as of late communicated worry in the media and by means of open letters about the dangers postured by AI, joined by numerous driving AI specialists.

AI could be utilized to create messages and instant messages, as well as phony sound and video. The researchers have perceived how AI can be utilized to impersonate an objective’s voice in the wake of concentrate only a couple of minutes of recorded discourse, and how it can transform film of individuals talking into manikins. The report is centered around dangers coming up in the following five years, and these are quickly getting to be issued.

Exactly Monika. AI will really bring a new revolution in IT. But we should have the control over machines and see to it that machines don’t outpower humans.

AI is coming, but how we all respond, how invasive to our privacy it becomes is yet to be determined. Exciting but troubling at the same time.

Technology is here to help make our lives easier but offcourse it all depends on the people who uses it. Just like everything else in this world, it can be a dangerous destruction when used by wrong hands.

AI is rapidly ‘improving’. In any case, it looks to bring more advantage to many without realizing its disadvantages. There’s a lot more to expect in this field. We’ll never know what’s next. Surprise, world.

I’m at a summer school for artificial intelligence in Florence right now and find the subject super interesting. It will affect almost every professional field, after all.
It can be both a blessing and a curse, depending on how you make use of it. I think, however, that the opportunities overweigh.

Oh wow, AI these days is really advanced. The things that Alexa, Siri and others can do is crazy to think about. I do see what they mean about the dangers it can pose. Hopefully they can continue to work to reduce the negative aspects, we can’t 100% remove negative but reducing is key.

Yes, AI Is dangerous. But useful, at the same time. With it’s help, blind people could hopefully drive a car in the future and so much more… I wish that they will find a way to control it to help us, not endanger us. Interesting post! Good job.
